Decorative plaster moulding strapwork ceiling – revisiting the decorated room
We recently revisited the site of a decorative plaster moulding strapwork ceiling job that we completed 2018. All the original period decorative plaster mouldings had been removed before the new owner took possession of the County Durham house in the 1980s. So, Ryedale Plasterers were called in to fit a new cornice throughout.
The new owner was renovating and extending the property that hadn't been altered for many years. All the rooms in the house were fitted with one of our 'off the shelf' cornices. But, the home owner wanted to make a bold statement and add personality to the main reception rooms. We we worked with that brief and created something really special.
The lounge was fitted with our 'Off the Shelf' swan neck cornice, a classic Victorian style for this house that was built in the late 18th century. We then designed a relief strapwork feature that filled the entire ceiling area. It gave an air of grandeur to this well proportioned room, but also added character, reflecting the personality of the house's new owner who wanted something a bit special.
Watch this space to see the magnificent ceiling rose and cornice that was fitted to the much larger reception room.
