About Ryedale Plasterers

Ryedale Plasterers is a family business established in 1982. Over the years we’ve built an enviable reputation for excellence and are regarded as experts in the restoration of original plaster features.

Where we’re based

We are located in a small business park in Northallerton, North Yorkshire in a purpose built premises with our office, workshop, drying room, drawing and design area.

We have completed work nationwide, from Scotland to Kent, but mainly work within a 75 mile radius of DL6 2NB.

What we do

We offer bespoke and off-the-shelf products and services covering all aspects of lime plasterwork and decorative moulding. These include:

Internal and external lime plastering/rendering
Ornate plaster and cornice restoration
Plasterware manufacture
On-site mould-making
Bespoke logos, crests, coats of arms and other embellishments.

Who we are

Operations director Jack Atkinson heads up our team of skilled craftsmen, after starting at Ryedale as an apprentice many moons ago. Jack took over the running of the business from previous MD Catherine Windross who retired in April 2023. Among the team is a third-generation ornamental plasterer with over 50 years’ experience, our apprentice who is about to complete his NVQ Level 2 and a proficient assistant/ labourer.

In addition to their qualifications and hands-on experience, they hold a variety of specialist craft qualifications, including:

historical restoration
ornate & fibrous plastering
modelling
sculpting
design crafts.

Our Team:

Ryedale Plasterers are a dedicated team of skilled, experienced craftsmen, with access to 3D clay modellers for bespoke work. We also have a dedicated office administrator working 4 days a week.

Jack Atkinson

Operations Director & Senior Craftsman

With more than 12+ yrs experience with Level 2 NVQ in fibrous plastering & Level 3 NVQ Heritage plastering. Jack has taken over the running of Ryedale, when our previous director recently retired.

Liz Atkinson

Accountant & General Admin

Liz is Jack's mum, in keeping with the family business history. As well as the book-keeping & accounts, Liz is answering enquiries and doing other office admin.

John Powson

Senior craftsman

2nd generation with 50yrs + experience - NVQ 3 historical restoration. John now works on a part-time basis until his impending retirement after working for Ryedale for 30+ years.

Matthew Barber

Assistant Craftsman

Mattie joined Ryedale last year, with a variety of experience in construction and other areas of business. He is a hard worker and an asset to the team.

George Middlebrook

Apprentice Craftsman

George is 17 & started with us in the Autumn. He has just started day release at college for his Level 2 Plastering Qualification but is already learning the ropes and making great progress.
